Day 1: Arrival – Kigali International Airport
Upon arrival at Kigali International Airport, you will be welcomed by a Gorilla Adventure Tours safari guide who will brief you about the 8 Days Combined DRC Rwanda Tour and transfer you to Hotel Chez Lando in Kigali for check in.
Day 2: Transfer to Butare in Rwanda
After breakfast you will be picked up from the hotel in Kigali and transferred to Butare where we will take you to visit the famous national dance troupe The Intore Dancers. You will also visit the Ethnographic Museum and check in at Hotel Ibis for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 3: Transfer to Bukavu DRC
You will be picked up from your hotel in Butare and transferred to Bukavu in DRC via Nyungwe Forest, crossing the border at Ruzizi. You will take a picnic lunch on the way and will arrive at Coco Lodge early evening, in time for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Kahuzi Biega National Park
After breakfast your driver guide will transport you to the Kahuzi Biega National Park Headquarters where you will be met and briefed by your ranger guides about the whole gorilla trekking experience in this park. You will then enter the forest in search of these gorillas nd once you locate them, you will be allowed up to one hour with them for observance and photography. You will have lunch and transfer back to Bukavu for the night.
Day 5: Bukavu – Transfer to Goma
After breakfast you will be picked up from the hotel in Bukavu and transferred to Goma via speedboat on lake Kivu. The boat trip takes 4 hours and you will arrive at Ihusi Hotel in time for lunch. Spend the afternoon resting up at the hotel. Later have dinner and overnight stay.
Day 6: Nyirangongo Volcano Hike
After breakfast you will picked up from your hotel in Goma and transferred to Kibati in the Virunga National Park. You will meet your ranger guides for your briefing on the hike ahead and then commence the 6-7hour trek to the summit. You will then be able to enjoy an overnight stay in a cabin at the summit.
Day 7: Transfer to Goma
You will have an early morning breakfast and start a 4-hour descent where you will be welcomed back by a Gorilla Adventure Tours representative who will transfer you to the hotel for your overnight stay.
Day 8: Return to Kigali – Departure
After your early morning breakfast, your tour guide will pick you up from the hotel in Goma and transfer you safely back to Kigali with lunch en route in Ruhengeri at the Muhabura Hotel. Arrive in Kigali mid afternoon ready for your return flight home.
