4 Days Lake Mburo National Park Tour

Detailed Itinerary.

Day 1: Transfer to Lake Mburo National Park

A Gorilla Adventure Tours safari guide will meet you at your hotel in Kampala at around 6:00am and take you on a 4 hour drive to Lake Mburo National Park. You will make a stop at Uganda Equator crossing, about 77km from Kampala for some photography before proceeding passing through impressive countryside landscapes to arrive in Lake Mburo National Park in the mid-morning. Upon arrival, you embark on a rewarding game drive exploring the park’s Savannah environment dotted with counts of wild game. You have possibilities of encountering Rothschild Giraffes, Topis, Warthogs, Buffaloes, Elands, Waterbucks, Impala, Burchell’s Zebra among others. You retreat from the activity and settle for lunch. In the afternoon, you will embark on a thrilling boat cruise on Lake Mburo with its calm waters overlooking an extensive swamp system and the towering hills beyond on one side and the forested shoreline on one side. While on the boat cruise, you will have possibilities of encountering a range of hippos, Nile crocodiles and a number of bird species.

Day 2: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

Begin your day with an early morning breakfast and then embark on your morning nature walks to the different areas of interest like the Nakivale wetland which is associated with fresh water and plains of seasonal floods which are permanent. This is an opportunity to see some animals as they graze and go back to their hiding places. Animals to been seen include; hippopotamus, buffaloes, antelopes, warthogs, bush bucks and many more that are around the swamp drinking water. Later, embark on your drive to Bwindi National Park in south west of Uganda where gorilla tracking takes place.

Day 3: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park

After breakfast, you will drive to the park headquarters for briefing and joining others for a gorilla trekking experience. You will trek through the thick forest with your guides to find the Gorillas, which can take you from half an hour to six hours. The steeply forested landscape is incredibly dense but crisscrossed by numerous animal trails allowing access to tourists. On your trek, you are likely to spot other primates, birds and rare tree species. After finding the gorillas, you will be allowed to spend one hour with them before trekking back to the park headquarters. There after you will be awarded a certificate for participating in gorilla trekking and thus contributing to the conservation of mountain gorillas.

Later in the afternoon, you will take a village walk which offers you a great chance to see how the people surrounding Bwindi Impenetrable Forest go about their daily lives. The walk begins with your tour guide who is resourceful about the community. It will amaze you how resourceful the local people are as you see and learn their ways of life and it is also a great way to support the local community in a direct way.

Day 4: Drive to Kampala / Entebbe Airport

After your morning breakfast, you will be driven to Kampala/Entebbe. You will have an en route stopover at Igongo Cultural Center to explore the culture of Ankole region and then embark on a drive to Kampala/Entebbe Airport.
