11 Days Across Rwanda and Uganda Tour

Detailed Itinerary.

Day 1: Rwanda – Transfer to Volcanoes National Park.

A Gorilla Adventure Tours safari guide will pick you up from your hotel or place of residence in Kigali, brief you on the 11 Days Across Rwanda and Uganda Tour and then transfer you to Kinigi at the foothills of Volcanoes National Park in Rwanda Ruhengere with lunch enroute. Accommodation and meals at Virunga Lodge (High End), Da Vinci Lodge (Mid Range) or Muhabura Guest House (Budget). Meal Plan: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 2: Gorilla Trekking in Rwanda

After breakfast, you will depart for the headquarters of the Park where your driver-guide will accomplish the necessary formalities for you. You will meet your ranger guide(s) for a briefing about the greatest animal experience ever! After assigning your gorilla group you will then enter the jungle for your  gorilla trekking tour in Rwanda. Afternoon ascend for a community walk to the Banyarwanda people and enjoy their different performances and also explore more about their unique culture. Accommodation and meals at Virunga Lodge (High End), Da Vinci Lodge (Mid Range) or Muhabura Guest House (Budget). Meal Plan: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 3: Transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park – Uganda.

You will have breakfast and then head back to Kigali City, Rwanda’s capital. If you missed the opportunity on your arrival day, you will be taken on a tour of this clean city and see first hand the way of life of Rwandans. Explore a good number of tourist spots including the Genocide Memorial Center at Gisozi. Later you will cross over to Uganda by road via Gatuna Boarder and  connect to Bwindi Impenetrable National Park, arriving at the lodge in time for dinner and overnight stay. Overnight and dinner at Mahogany Springs/Buhoma Lodge (High End) or Silverback Lodge/Engagi Gorilla Lodge (Mid Range) or Buhoma Community Bandas (Budget). Meal Plan: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 4: Gorilla Trekking in Bwindi Impenetrable National Park.

After breakfast, head to the park head quarters for briefing about the mountain gorillas and the park. Enter into the jungle to search for the shy primates in their mist. When meet them it is one hour allowed staying with the primates for the clients to enjoy those playing, take unforgettable photographs. Carry with you the rain gears, walkable shoes, hut, insect repellent, sun screens, packed lunch and bottled mineral water. Spend the evening visiting the local communities around the park-like the typical Bakiga homes, local breweries, traditional healers, Batwa cultural performances, local schools and art and craft shops. Overnight and dinner at Mahogany Springs/Buhoma Lodge (High End) or Silverback Lodge/Engagi Gorilla Lodge (Mid Range) or Buhoma Community Bandas (Budget). Meal Plan: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 5: Transfer to Queen Elizabeth National Park

After your early morning breakfast, you will head to Queen Elizabeth National Park, the home to plenty of Uganda wildlife where all big game can been seen in abundance. Queen Elizabeth National Park’s diverse eco-system of grassy plains, tropical forest, rivers, swamps, lakes and volcanic craters is home to an incredible abundance of wildlife. You will arrive at the park and do an evening game drive. Game drives in this park, with the massive Rwenzoris as a backdrop provides excellent opportunities to see lion, leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephants, defassa waterbuck, Uganda Kob, Topi and bush buck. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Overnight and meals at Mweya Safari Lodge (High End) or Enganzi Safari Lodge (Mid Range) or Simba Safari Camp (Budget). Meal Plan: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 6: Morning Game Drive – Afternoon Boat Cruise.

After your breakfast, you will head into the park for another game drive. Morning game drives are a great way to encounter animals as they head into their hideouts and some early risers. And you will stand a chance of seeing more the animal species from the previous game drive. You will return to the lodge for lunch and then go on an afternoon game drive along the Kazinga Channel, where you will see more animals by the water including elephants, hippos and lots of bird species. Return to the lodge for dinner and overnight stay. Overnight and meals at Mweya Safari Lodge (High End) or Enganzi Safari Lodge (Mid Range) or Simba Safari Camp (Budget). Meal Plan: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 7: Transfer to Kibale National Park

You will have an early morning breakfast and check out the lodge as you proceed to Kibale Forest National Park the home of chimpanzees through a verdant countryside and past traditional homesteads and farms en-route. Do another game drive on your way out and drive to Kibale National Park, arriving at the lodge in time for lunch. Spend the afternoon relaxing at the lodge as you prepare for the next day’s chimpanzee tracking activity. Overnight and meals at Kyaninga Lodge (High End) or Mountains of the Moon (Mid Range) or Chimpanzee Guest House (Budget). Meal Plan: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 8: Chimpanzee Tracking in Kibale Forest National Park.

Early morning trek for chimpanzees and 10 other primate including l’ hoestes, Red Colobus, blues, red tailed and grey – cheeked mangabey. The guide will provide detailed explanations, not only on primates, but on all the forest fauna and flora and will ensure that your walk is both informative and enjoyable. This walk is excellent for viewing bird life and seeing primates at close quarters. Kibale is the best reserve in Africa to view chimps, a thick jungle with a towering canopy. After tracking the chimps in the afternoon you will go for a nature walk to the Bigodi swamp- to see unique flora and fauna. Overnight and meals at Kyaninga Lodge (High End) or Mountains of the Moon (Mid Range) or Chimpanzee Guest House (Budget). Meal Plan: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 9: Transfer to Murchison Falls National Park.

Our driver/guide will pick you after your breakfast and transfer you to Murchison Falls National Park, Uganda’s largest national park which is also home to vast species of animals and birds. You will spend the bigger part of the day on the road, with lunch en-route. Arrive at the lodge in time for dinner and overnight stay. Overnight and meals at Paraa Safari Lodge (High End) or Murchison River Lodge (Mid Range) or Heritage Safari Lodge (Budget). Meal Plan: (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner).

Day 10: Morning Game Drive – Boat Cruise to the bottom of Murchison Falls.

Have early morning breakfast at about 6.30 and set out for the Game Drive by 7.00am. This is the ideal timing to catch the nocturnal and hunters before returning to their hideouts as well as the early risers. Murchison Falls National Park is crossed by River Nile dividing it into the South and North Sections. The North section has a higher population of animals hence more preferred for game drives. In case your lodge is on the Southern section you shall drive to the ferry crossing and get to the other side to start the game drive.

Traverse the major game trails especially around the Paraa area and view lots of wildlife including among others giraffes, elephants, jackals, buffaloes, lions, warthogs, Jackson’s Hartebeests, antelops, hyenas, waterbucks, and the much elusive leopards. The game drive lasts about 4 hours after which you return to the lodge for your lunch and relaxation. Later at about 2.30pm you set out for the boat ride on Victoria Nile.

River Nile is habit for several water animals including lots of hippos and crocodile. Several animals come to the Nile to drink water, cool off and refresh and others to eat fresh grass along the banks. The boat ride is ideal for close encounter wildlife viewing. Expect to sight lot of buffalos, elephants, antelopes and a cocktail of birds. The ride takes you to the bottom of the Murchison Falls and you could hike to the top for breathtaking views of these beautiful falls. After this thrilling wildlife boat ride. Day 11: Return to Kampala – Entebbe Airport – Out.

You will have an early morning breakfast, check out of the lodge and go on a journey Kampala City with lunch enroute. You will do a morning game drive as you exit Murchison Falls National Park after which you will proceed to Kampala City and then Entebbe Airport for your departure flight out.
